Pajama Party

One of my most favorite times of the day is when I put on my pajamas for the night.  If I am being perfectly honest, some days that is earlier than later!  I have never been a fan of sleeping in old t-shirts and sweats.  I think making your night-time routine relaxing and pretty contributes to a peaceful night.
In the winter, I am all about the flannel pajamas, but in the summer light and pretty.  I have 3 grown boys in my house, besides my husband, so coverage has always been the name of the game for me, and I am NOT a fan nightgowns so you’ll see none of those in my list here…sorry.

1.  Vintage Pajama Set  I love this set, it reminds me of some from the movies.  Have you seen the movie, The Holiday?  I love the line where Arthur describes to Iris what a “meet cute” is…that’s what I think of with these!
2.  Lounge Cami  Nothing like a cute cami to throw on with some lounge pants or sleep shorts.
3.  Pajama Set Well obvi I would choose some from my favorite Tarjay!  These cute things are on their way to me!
4.  Long Sleeve Pajama Set another cute pair from Target!  I love the sweet pattern on these!
5.  PJ Salvage Set I really love the cute pattern on these…coffee and eye masks!
6.  Plush Hoodie Set I have and love these!  They are hands down the softest things ever!
I recently picked up these two pieces at Wal-mart.  I actually wore them to an event that was a “pajama party”.  They are super soft and the perfect set for lounging at home, or great if you might have company at your house!
If you are looking for some new pajamas, I hope I have inspired you with some cute options!

Palm Mug/Francesca’s – Not only is the saying on this mug so cute…but the palm leaves and gold just make me happy!
52 Lists Projects/Fuego – I have had the opportunity to hear Moorea Seal speak and visit her store in Seattle.  I love the meaning behind her 52 Lists Project.
Robe/Nordstrom Rack – I actually bought this robe for myself I love it so much!  It is the PERFECT robe for Spring and Summer.  It is lightweight so I wont sweat to death while doing my hair.  And, honestly, it looks like it cost more than $20!

Spring Fashion Trends {I’m all in!}

Happy Spring Friends!  Ready or not in your neck of the woods, Spring fashion is in full swing!  Over the weekend Lucy and I attended a fun Spring Fashion Event with Macys and my friends at Gossip & Glamour and Styled Seattle.

17855508_1477973245548974_1628222919966393257_o

One of the “perks” of getting older and being an over 40+ blogger, is that people don’t expect you to follow all the trends.  Some trends….well they need to stay with the younger girls,  and then there are some that can be left to interpretation for anyone which is a lot of fun.  The Spring trends for this year are perfect for any age in my opinion and some of my favorites!  So let’s get started!

Leather Jacket / the color Blush

One of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe is my black faux leather jacket.  I have had mine for 2+ years and it’s a staple (see what I wore to the show..not kidding)  It was on the runway again over this gorgeous Blush (IT color for the season) dress.  So don’t stick that baby in the back of your closet…keep it front and center and pair it with everything!

The Bomber Jacket / Pattern Mixing

The bomber jacket is another great ageless piece this year.  You can find them in solids, satins, florals and lace!  Pair it with jeans to skirts they look adorable.

Pattern mixing is one of my favorite trends, and I have been doing for years!  As Jennifer Lovin from Jenniferlovin.com shared, the key is to find a common color palette and it naturally binds the patterns together.  In the photo below the theme of black and white in the stripe skirt and the floral bomber makes this outfit work perfectly!

The Utility Jacket

Again, another trend that I’ve been wearing non-stop!  Olive green is a perfect neutral and works with everything.  The utility jacket is light and gives the perfect additional layer to a jeans and tee outfit.

Statement Sleeves

I love this one!  I have a few tops in my closet with amazing sleeves, and they are so fun!  They look great with a simple skirt, jeans or a great pair of trousers like the ones below.

Florals Florals Florals

Enough said?  Dresses, blouses, bomber jackets, shoes…florals are everywhere!  I have yet to get anything in this print, but I know there will be something!

So, what do you think?  Are these some trends that you can see yourself working into your wardrobe and style??

My Easy Spring Uniform

Spring has sprung, and I could not be happier!

Here in Seattle the rain is still fallng…and realistically, it will be until July!   Honestly though, the longer days and mild temps let me know Spring is here.

I love a spring dress or a cute look with heels, but really, most days you will see me in this easy laid back style..my Spring uniform!

DSC_1373

I’m a Seattle girl and coffee is my jam..so I love cute coffee tees.  This green lightweight jacket is probably the most worn item in my closet.  It’s thin enough to wear all day for a little extra arm coverage, and as far as I’m concerned this color green is a neutral..it goes with everything!!  Jeans are my forever favorite.  Whether they are boyfriend, skinny or flare, I love to style a great pair! (See what I did there??)   My love of sneakers will never die, and I am loving the trend of colored sneaks…they really can take a simple outfit and add a pop of fun!

When it comes to accessorizing, I like to keep it pretty simple.  I am a watch girl and this gorgeous zebrawood and turquoise watch from Jord is perfect for this look!  I love the warmth of the zebrawood and the gorgeous turquoise face gives an unexpected pop of color!  It really is such a unique watch and gets so many compliments.

Splurge vs Steal

I always love to share when I find a great deal.  I especially LOVE finding the “look for less” when it comes to trendy items…things I know that I will probably only wear one season/year.  I do believe, on classic pieces it is best to spend your max to have comfort and quality pieces that will last you for years.
I thought it would be fun, to take 4 shoe styles that I am loving right now, and give you a Splurge vs Steal option.  I really cannot believe how similar each of these are!
Splurge/Steal
Pom Pom Booties  (Splurge / Steal) – I am DYING to get my hands on this Steal pair of sneaks!  I am a self-proclaimed sneaker addict, and I think the pom pom’s are adorbs!
Block Heel Sandals ( Splurge / Steal ) – I love the heel height and color of these sandals.  These might be a case where the Splurge price is great already and these could be a classic in your wardrobe.  Maybe if your stepping out of your comfort zone in color, the Steal would be the way to go!
Perforated Bootie ( Splurge / Steal ) – Super cute and chic!  I personally love the cut of the Steal better than the Splurge!
Espadrille Sandals (Splurge / Steal ) – Now these….so popular last year, and are def on the A-list again!  I love them, but am scared I would feel 10 ft tall…however $60 Steal might make me suffer for fashion!  I have read over and over again, that the Splurge version is SO comfortable.
So, what about you??  Are you a Splurge or Steal gal, or does it just depend on the goods??
Hope you have a great day!
xoxo~Dawn

This outfit is a mix of my two most beloved patterns…plaid and leo!  You can never go wrong adding leopard to any outfit…consider it a neutral!  This coat is the BEST hand-me-down I have ever received, it has easily become my winter staple!

Told you, winter staple that coat!  My beloved booties recently got a hole in them, so I need to replace these stat as I wear them at least 3x a week they are that versatile!  This cute sweater was a Jcrew find and I love the purple/navy combo!

This here is really just a mix of all things I love…a cute sweater, a plaid scarf and my fave leopard sneaks that are years old from Target.  I have linked some similar pairs for ya though!  This bag, found it at Target and loved the shape…it has a very Kate Spadesque feel don’t ya think?

My beloved moto jacket.  I bought this baby a couple of years ago for under 40 bucks, and have never looked back!  I probable wear this a couple of times a week as well!  I am a huge sneaker fan and these nikes cover all the bases…spots, neutral and comfort.

Holiday Gift Guide for the Homebody

If I had to choose a perfect day, it would be at home drinking tea cozied up with a warm throw and a delicious smelling candle.
If you have someone on your gift list who is a homebody…this Gift Guide is perfect!  I have gathered some of my favorite things perfect for curling up by the fire.
Homebody Gift Guide
Kusmi Tea – I LOVE coffee, but I love a delicious cup of tea.  A friend of mine gifted me a can of Kusmi tea and I was hooked!  It was one of the most delicious loose teas I have had!
Celebrate Everything – This book is on my wish list.  Darcy Miller is a creator, crafter, party planner and has worked for Martha Stewart for 25 years!!  She knows her stuff, and this book looks amazing!
Candle – Who doesn’t love a great candle??  Anthropologie wins the candle game…hands down!
Mug – I am a HUGE Anthropologie fan.  There mugs are some of my favorite..they are artistic and beautiful.  A cup of coffee or tea always tastes better in a pretty mug, don’t you think??
Heated Fur Throw – I am always cold!  So when I saw this heated throw at Target, I knew it was perfect for my gift guide…faux fur and heated, yes please!
Slippers – When I’m at home I always have slippers on!  JCrew slippers are some of my favorites.  I love the moccasin style and hello…plaid!!!
I hope I have given you some ideas for that Homebody on your list!!
